WHAT IS Chrysalid? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome! Chrysalid is a Remote Administration Timing System. What does that mean? Well, when set up on the computers on a local area network (See Chapter 3 for installation instructions), Chrysalid enables an administrator to control all the computers on the LAN. See Help file for more details. The evaluation version of Chrysalid restricts the Admin to accepting only three client computers. Multiple-machine licenses can be bought for 5 machines, 10 machines, 20 machines or unlimited number of machines. Chrysalid SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- In order to run Chrysalid, your system must meet these specifications: o An IBM PC or compatible that meets the minimum hardware requirements for your version of Microsoft Windows. o Microsoft Windows 2000/XP. o Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or higher. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. GETTING HELP ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 Using Chrysalid's On-line Help Chrysalid's on-line Help system uses the Windows HTML Help subsystems which is a standard on Windows 2000/XP. The Chrysalid Help file contains all of the information you'll need to use Chrysalid. To access Chrysalid Help, select Help from the Chrysalid menu bar, then Contents from the drop-down menu. 3.2 Chrysalid Support Digital Solutions is committed to providing a reliable, high-quality product that is easy to use. Go to Chrysalid's Help->About dialog and click on 'System Info' to get your diagnostic information. KNOWN PROBLEMS OR LIMITATIONS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.1 Fast user switching o On Windows XP systems,you will need to disable fast user switching and the welcome screen. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. SETUP AND CONFIGURATION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.1 Installation Instructions The Chrysalid software comes in two parts - an Admin and a Client side. The Admin side is usually installed on the network server although this is not a must. However, the Admin side should only be set up on ONE machine on the network. *IF REINSTALLING BE SURE TO FIRST UNINSTALL EXISTING CHRYSALID* To install Chrysalid, perform the following steps: 1. Start Windows, if you haven't already done so. 2. From the Start menu, select Run 3. In the dialog box, enter: c:\temp\ChrysalidAdmin.exe (or ChrysalidClient.exe) (you will need to change the path in the command line above to match the directory into which you downloaded the Chrysalid installation file) 4. Click on the OK button. 5. Follow the instructions given by the setup wizard for correct installation of the product. 5.2 Uninstall Instructions If after installing Chrysalid, you find it necessary to remove the software from your computer, perform the following steps: 1. Run the Windows Control Panel 2. Open the Add/Remove Programs applet from Control Panel. 3. Select Chrysalid from the list of applications that can uninstalled by Windows. 4. Click on the Add/Remove button to uninstall Chrysalid. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. REGISTERING Chrysalid ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This program and its associated files are part of an evaluation package copyrighted by Digital Solutions Ltd. Chrysalid is not in the public domain. This program must be registered if it is used beyond the 21 day evaluation period. To receive a software key for Chrysalid, send the following information to Digital Solutions: Name : City : Country : Challenge : To generate the challenge string , do the following 1. Select the Chrysalid program's Help menu. 2. Select Register from the menu. 3. write down the string shown in the field labelled Challenge. NOTE: The above information must be exact! Your software key will be generated from it. Registration Instructions: After you send us your payment for a licence, we will send a licence key. To enter the licence key, do the following: 1. Select the Chrysalid program's Help menu. 2. Select Register from the menu. 3. Enter your registration information in the fields as provided by Digital Solutions. NOTE: All the fields on the registration form are required and are case sensitive. Your software key will be personalized for this information ONLY. 4. When you are finished, select OK.
