WHAT IS Caracal? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Caracal is a Phonebook and SMS backup solution for GSM SIM cards and supported phone models. It enables one to securely backup phonebooks SMS messages for customers and quickly retrieve and restore them on demand. The evaluation version of Caracal has a the following restrictions: · Phonebook and SMS download and viewing (but not saving in database) · Upload of up to 5 entries of phone book and 1 SMS entry. · No reports. This is not the case for registered versions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Caracal SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- In order to run Caracal, your system must meet these specifications: o An Intel x86-based computer that meets the minimum hardware requirements for your version of Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP. o A Smart Card Reader that conforms to the PC/SC standard o (Optional)An Infrared dongle for direct conection to supported phones. o (Optional)An Point of Sale printer for printing out Customer PIN numbers and receipts. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. GETTING HELP ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 Using Caracal's On-line Help Caracals's on-line Help system are provided as CHM files when you install Caracal. SETUP AND CONFIGURATION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.1 Installation Instructions Setup packages are provided which will install Caracal on Windows 2000 or Windows XP Detailed instructions on how to install Caracal are available online at http://www.dsmagic.com/Caracal/ Consult the online help for a detailed description of the setup process. 5.3 Uninstall Instructions If after installing Caracal software, you find it necessary to remove the software from your computer, you can uninstall it by going to Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. REGISTERING Caracal ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This program and its associated files are part of an evaluation package copyrighted by Digital Solutions Ltd. Caracal is not in the public domain. This program must be registered if it is used in a commercial environment. To receive a software key for Caracal, send the following information to Digital Solutions: Company Name : City : Country : Domain name : Challenge Key*: NOTE: The above information must be exact! Your software key will be generated from it. NOTE:* A utility program is provided with Caracal that generates a "challenge" key - i.e. a unique key identifying the machine running Caracal. Your Caracal software key is based on this challenge key. Registration Instructions: After you send us your payment for a licence, we will send a licence key. To enter the licence key, do the following: 1. On the main screen of the Administration Interface, click on the "Admin" menu and then the "System Data" menu. 2. Enter your registration information in the fields as provided by Digital Solutions. NOTE: All the fields on the registration form are required and are case sensitive. Your software key will be personalized for this information ONLY. 3. When you are finished, click on "Save".
